JOB DESCRIPTION
Schillerska Gymnasium is a modern school in a historic environment, with about 1100 students and over 100 staff under the motto "Here, learning lives." We are centrally located in Gothenburg in culturally marked premises. Close cooperation between students, staff, and the outside world provides a current and sought-after education where each student's development is at the center. Together with our special educators, principal, and other student health staff, you will plan and drive the work with students in need of special support. In collaboration with teachers and guardians, you will support the adaptation of studies for these students and work from and follow up on action programs. You will also support the principal in school development work with pedagogical analyses. We work based on the administration's quality work to develop methods for learning assessment.
Unit 1, which consists of the humanities and arts programs at Schillerska Gymnasium, is looking for a special educator who will work with students, individually or in groups, primarily based on the special educator's assessment of the students' needs. Participation in lessons may also occur to assist students in the primary study situation. The work will primarily focus on students in the arts program.
We are looking for a special educator who will provide classroom-based support but also be able to guide and provide structural support in various subjects and lead individuals or groups in need of extra training. You should feel comfortable providing classroom-based support in mathematics. We expect you to have a good familiarity with compensatory aids and good competence regarding digital learning tools. The position may also include guidance for teachers and student assistants.
Interviews will take place on April 23 between 1 PM and 4:30 PM.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has a teaching license and is a qualified teacher at the upper secondary level in one or more of the subjects mathematics, Swedish, or English. We see that you have experience teaching teenagers and that you hold a special educator degree.
You can overview your own area of responsibility and place the significance of your own operations in a larger context and show interest in and collaborate on overarching issues to create added value. You take into account different sources of information and perspectives and can adapt others' ideas to your own operations. You are very flexible and can adjust your tasks and methodology based on the needs of the students and the operation.
You have the ability to work together with others to perform tasks and achieve goals. By being interested and creating understanding for others, you contribute to a respectful work climate. You understand the common mission, act based on it, and contribute to the whole. Likewise, you have the ability to make independent decisions within the framework of your assignment and can act on your own based on what the situation requires.
You see opportunities for change and create situations where new ideas and proposals can develop. You motivate and describe pedagogical changes and handle criticism of change in a constructive manner. You drive long-term and sustainable change work, both at the local and overarching levels.
We expect you to have a very good familiarity with compensatory aids and the reporting functions used by student health. We also want you to have very good ICT competence and experience using computers as pedagogical and administrative support.
